Life’s Fluidity | Lessons and Changes

Journalled on Thursday, 7 September 2023 | Flamengo, Rio de Janeiro: 22 degrees, warmish, sunny and slightly overcast.

I’m still on a roll. Today is another benchmark or a reference day with fluidity.

The papers sent from my mother’s solicitors in England in June have finally arrived. It is now September, and I have been waiting for these documents for over two months. I thought they might have been lost in the post, but they have arrived at my old address in Copacabana.

Due to family problems and confusion, my mother decided to place her house in a trust that cannot be legally contested. I am in the trust, so I must sign the necessary papers.

Since I live in Brazil and my mother doesn’t have internet, a mobile phone, WhatsApp, or email, it’s sometimes difficult to communicate details, numbers, etc., with her over a regular landline.

To make things easier, we both decided that she should ask the solicitors to send the papers to my old address in Copacabana, which she already has on file. Once they arrive, I will pick them up, sign them, and send them back for registration.

So today, I went to Copacabana to pick up the papers. I have been waiting for at least two months. I went there every two or three days to see if the documents had arrived, but nothing had. So, I stopped going, and now, after two months, they’ve arrived. From all this, two lessons can be learned.

The first point is that, due to the urgency of the situation and the need to receive the documents, there was considerable pressure and stress during the wait.

When I decided to relax and let things take their natural course, everything happened as it should. The papers arrived, and after emailing the solicitor in England, they confirmed they could wait for the signed documents until the end of November, when I go to England.

So, the lesson is to let life and the universe run their course. Even if something is important to you and you want it to happen as quickly as possible, it will only happen when it is right, and only with the support and timing of the universe and its conspiracy.

The second point concerns returning to Copacabana and my old building, where I lived for over two years.

You might think I would miss living there. The building is excellent, and my flat was great for a single man. It was also perfect for Yasmin, as she had her own little bedroom and space, which was very important to her.

So, compared to where I’m living in Flamengo, living in Copacabana was much better. It was much superior, and the flat was a perfect bachelor pad. Living alone, having my own space, and being in Copacabana was very good.

But do I miss it?

No, I don’t. Not one bit. I am grateful for having lived there for two years. It was a very good time in my life for both Yasmin and me in many ways. But it is over. And like I always say, life is fluid, like water going down the hill. It never stops, even when you think it has. It is always in motion, as are our lives. They never stop; they constantly evolve even when we feel they aren’t.

Living with Nalva and Yasmin again after so long has not been perfect. But for me, it is also temporary, like most things in life. So, understanding this, there is no problem. If you learn from your experiences and make the most of what enters your life, you become happier than most people.

I am in a good place in my life. I understand this phase is temporary and that things will change, but that’s just part of life. We always experience ups and downs, and it’s important to know how to handle each situation as simply and easily as possible. Stress should be minimised, as it can lead to health issues such as cancer, and we definitely want to avoid that.

We must remember that any situation in life can be good.

When we have a positive situation, that is great. So, no problem, it’s all good. However, unexpected or difficult situations can be upsetting or disappointing, and we might feel like victims. We need to understand that negative situations are learning opportunities. If we are wise enough to learn from them, appreciate them, and improve ourselves, then they are also good.

I recently learned this and can confirm it. Complaining about the negatives in your life doesn’t help; it only brings more negativity. We must be responsible and accountable for our choices.

If we choose to trust the wrong person as a friend who talks behind our backs, we choose to allow that friendship.

If we buy a dream car that constantly breaks down, it is our choice and our money. If we buy our future dream house, which we thought needed only minor repairs but turned out to need a complete refurbishment, it was our choice.

If we choose not to save money for the future, that is our fault, and we pay the consequences as we age. If we didn’t appreciate the person who truly loved us, that was our stupidity. We are responsible and must be accountable for our decisions and choices.

When we are not accountable, we are blind and stupid, and we suffer much more.

The documents are signed and ready for me in November. I took Perola to the park while working on the blog all afternoon. It is the 7th of September, Brazilian Independence Day. It’s a bank holiday, and there were very few people in the streets celebrating; nobody.

President Lula and his wife waved to nobody on the main Street in Brasilia. The people are abandoning this government, and Brazil is doing the same.

The King is nude!!!

My trip in November is a detox from Brazil for at least a couple of months.

In bed by 11 p.m.

Thank you.
