The Journey of Personal Transformation | Reflecting on Change and Growth

Journalled on Wednesday, 12th of April 2023 | Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro: 27 degrees, hot and sunny.

In the past, it was an excuse for me to do something like go out, or at least drink something: a couple of beers or a bottle of wine. Something to recognise that half the week has passed; what stupidity and bullshit!

Nowadays, I do not recognise who I was in the past, with the importance and necessity of drinking. If you didn’t drink, something was wrong with you. Wednesday was an excuse to celebrate with a bottle of wine. Again, it is very ridiculous.

This evening, I am celebrating Wednesday by reading my book, which I want to finish before the weekend. The book was a little slow at the beginning, but now, at two-thirds of the way through, it is getting quite interesting and difficult to put down.

Nevertheless, it’s also a part of our nature to fight or resist it, and we must learn how to balance the scales to effect positive change. As I mentioned earlier, I no longer recognise my former self.

My priorities, my person, and my outlook on life are entirely different from what they were before. I have never been crazy or irresponsible; I have always done what I was asked, but now I am happier with myself, even though there is no real reason to be.

I am in the same situation, doing the same work, but now I have a sense of truth I didn’t have before.

This internal truth helps me cope with the day-to-day highs and lows, while also letting me decide where I should go. Yasmin is a breath of fresh air for me; even on her bad days as a teenager, it is still good for me to be a part of her life. I only wish I could give her more, and I will.

I thank whoever it is for what I am going through because it is very good. I learn from it every day, every moment. However, I wish I had known all this beforehand.

So, Wednesday was spent working out, giving classes, feeling good, and reading a good book!

In bed by 10 p.m.

Thank you.
